Our law degree, known as an LLB or Bachelor of Laws, is equivalent to a BA or BSc. If your career aspiration is to be a solicitor or barrister in the UK, this degree is perfect for you as it will mean you are prepared in part for the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE1) or to progress onto our Bar Practice Course (if you wish to qualify as a barrister). Alternatively, if you are aiming to progress onto the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) to become a solicitor or barrister in Hong Kong, this degree would also be suitable for you.  And if you have set your sights on a career in politics, business or journalism, the transferable skills you will learn on our law degree will give you an excellent launch pad for these ambitions and more. Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS)

Eligibility

To be eligible to take up your place on our LLB you must possess:

  • 5, 5, 4 in Hong Kong Diploma in Secondary Education (HKDSE)
  • An English language level equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or above with a minimum of 6.0 in each component

Routes to practice as a lawyer in Hong Kong, England and Wales

Important notice

These courses are registered with the Hong Kong Non-local Courses Registry (NCR).

Please note that students who apply, accept a place on and enrol on University of Law programmes that are registered in Hong Kong will be subject to different Terms and Conditions and pay different course Fees compared to students who apply, accept a place on and enrol on University of Law programmes that are registered in the United Kingdom and other online programmes. The Terms and Conditions and Fee Schedule that you accept when applying for your course (and which you are subsequently sent with your confirmation email) will be the Terms and Conditions and Fee Schedule for your particular course. Payment must be made in accordance with this Fee Schedule.

It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which these courses may lead.

Please note that non-local students can only undertake our full-time courses. Part-time study is not permitted due to Hong Kong Immigration Department regulations.
